NUR 3010. Introduction to Professional Nursing (2 credits) 2-0 This course introduces the beginning nursing student to the multiple dimensions of professional nursing. Emphasis is placed on initiating the formation of a professional identity and exploring ways of knowing as a nurse by addressing the values, societal mandate for nursing, legal parameters of practice, scope and standards of professional nursing practice and the roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse. Philosophical and theoretical concepts and principles underlying professional nursing practice are examined, with a focus on the concepts used in the Department of Nursing. PREREQ: Admission to Professional Program. Pre-licensure BSN students only.
