HST 3060. Revolution and the Young Republic (3 credits) Between 1763 and 1815, Americans fought two major wars, won their independence, established one national government only to replace it by another, expanded rapidly into the west, and laid the foundation for a lasting democracy. This course examines the origins and impact of the American Revolution, constitution and nation-making, the evolving political culture, and the meaning of the Revolution for various groups in the early republic.
