SED 3310. Introduction to the Exceptional Child (3 credits) This course is designed to provide an introduction to the foundations of special education: the concept, purposes and responsibilities, laws and policies, principles and practices for meeting the educational needs of children with disabilities. The course provides a study of the needs, characteristics, and categories of exceptional children, as well as the important role parents and families play in the educational planning and decision-making process. Three hours of Field Experience is required.
