SWK 5200. Social Work in a Diverse Community (3 credits) This course is designed to present students with an overview of the complex issues surrounding social work with diverse populations. Students will explore the impact of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, ability, and/or gender, and examine the consequences of marginalizing members of oppressed groups. Students will play an active role in their own learning through the use of writing, electronic discussion groups, and other experiential exercises. PREREQ: Admission to Graduate School.
