SWK 2450. Human Diversity (3 credits) Crosslisted: (SOC 2450) This course is designed to provide the student with cultural awareness and knowledge about diverse populations and to aid in culturally competent practice skills, including advocacy/social justice efforts, with people from diverse ethnic and cultural groups. This course will focus on oppressive experiences of people from diverse backgrounds (including groups who have been marginalized, disenfranchised, and discriminated against due to race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, language, class, sex, gender, age, religion, physical or mental ability, political beliefs, economic deprivation, and/or sexuality). Students will better recognize and manage personal values and biases in personal and professional interactions with diverse persons and clients. Social work majors must complete this course with a minimum of grade C. PREREQ: ENG 1050, 1060
