SWK 2000. Introduction to Social Work (3 Credits) This course focuses on the historical foundations of social work practice, social work roles, and social values and ethics. This course covers basic social work concepts, social welfare structure and services, and an overview of social work intervention methods. This course introduces students to the communication skills needed to work with diverse client systems. Students will use self-reflection to identify personal values and biases in personal and professional interactions with clients. Social work majors must complete this course with a minimum of grade C. Field experience required Historical and current overview of the social welfare system and the field of social work. PREREQ: ENG 1050 Required for: Social Work Major.
