KIN 2000. Foundations of Human Movement Studies (3 credits)


This course is an introduction to kinesiology as a field of study and is designed to introduce students to key concepts concerning the anatomical, mechanical, physiological, neural, and psychological bases of human movement. It provides an overview of (1) the biophysical subdisciplines that make up the knowledge base for the discipline of kinesiology and (2) the professions that depend on kinesiological knowledge for their practice. Students will learn the multi-dimensional changes in movement and movement potential that occur throughout the life span as well as those changes that occur as adaptations to training, practice, and other lifestyle factors.
