OCCT 5475. Assessment in Adult Physical Dysfunction (3 credit)


Building on knowledge of conditions and neuroscience students will explore the impact of neurological conditions on occupational performance and participation. Students will deepen their understanding of the conceptual foundation and scientific basis for the selection of appropriate assessments when working with adults with physical dysfunctions. Students will use evidence-based practice and measurement principles to identify strengths and barriers and outcomes that inform goal attainment. Students will learn to identify and articulate the rationale for assessment and results to clients and other care professionals. Students will learn common conditions encountered in acute, community-based, sub-acute, and outpatient care settings. Students will build on their introductory knowledge of therapeutic use of self and how to progress patients from referral through evaluations and interpretation of evaluation data. Students will learn about social and political factors that impact service provision in adults.  PREREQ: OCCT 5000, OCCT 5100, OCCT 5150, OCCT 5200
