SOC 3240. Sociology of Poverty (3 credits)

This course examines sociological perspectives on the causes and extent of poverty in the United States. Attention will be given to social theory, social policy, lived-experiences and the impact of poverty on communities. An emphasis on the extent and nature of poverty in North Carolina is provided.
