CNS 5850. Theory and Process of Family Counseling (3 credits) This course is a study of established models and theories of family counseling, including systemic and contemporary approaches to family counseling. Each approach will be examined in terms of theoretical formulations, family development, goals of counseling, conditions for change, techniques, and strengths and weaknesses. This course also examines the impact of gender roles and culture within the practice of family counseling. PREREQ: Completion of all core counseling courses or permission of the instructor.
