FIN 2400. Foundations of Finance (for Non-Business Majors) (3 credits) Foundations of Finance offers a concise yet comprehensive survey approach to finance that provides students with the opportunity to understand what finance is all about. The course, intended for nonbusiness majors, introduces the three main areas of finance-markets, investments, and financial management. Topics include banks and financial institutions, interest rate and the saving process, time value of money, introduction to bonds and stocks, financial data analysis and long term financial planning, and overview of capital budgeting. MAT 1050 and a financial calculator are recommended.
