Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Specialization - Master of Science in Nursing
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization prepares advanced practice nurses to provide primary care for individuals and families across the lifespan. Students gain expertise in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic conditions through advanced coursework and supervised clinical experiences.
Graduates are eligible for national certification as family nurse practitioners and for licensure as advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). This program is designed to meet the needs of rural and underserved communities while aligning with AACN Essentials and NONPF Core Competencies for advanced nursing practice.
Students planning to pursue the Doctor of Nursing Practice have the option fast-track their progress by opting to complete two doctorate-level courses, which would be applicable to both programs.
