ENG 2190. Latino Literature (3 credits) A survey of literature by writers of Latin American heritage writing in English. This course examines the experience and dilemmas of Mexicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, and other established and immigrant US Hispanic/Latino groups by studying recent writers and filmmakers, including an examination of the media images of Latinos. Topics include essentialism, biculturalism, marginality, transculturation, and acculturation. PREREQ: “C” grade or better in ENG 1050 .
