ENG 3160. Victorian Literature (3 credits) A critical study of selected literature of the Victorian period, covering representative authors and texts of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction prose. The course examines Victorian literature in relation to social and cultural contexts, including industrialization, social class and social reform, roles of women and children, religion, and science, monarchy and empire, and conditions of literary publication. PREREQ: ENG 3040 or permission of the instructor.
