RDG 2000. Foundations of Reading (3 credits)
This course focuses on foundational literacy instruction. Emphasis will be placed on scientifically-based reading models, data-driven instruction, and differentiated instruction for diverse learners. Assessment and instruction for the following literacy topics is included in the course: language development, phonemic/phonological awareness, phonics, orthography, encoding/decoding, morphology, and vocabulary. Field Experience Required (12 hours). Field Experience Required. PREREQ: Admission to Educator Preparation Program or permission of Department Chair
