OCCT 5000. Theories and Foundation in Occupational Therapy (3 credits)


This course introduces students to the theories and frames of references that guide occupational therapy practice in various settings. Students will learn about roles, scope of practice, terminology, the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework-4 (OTPF4), and the relationship between participating in occupations and health. Students will begin to develop therapeutic skills needed to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with clients and other healthcare professionals. Students will begin to cultivate their professional reasoning skills, therapeutic use of self, activity analysis, and understand the processes needed to foster meaningful occupational participation in individuals, groups, and communities.
